Get Involved - KEPAC Endorsement Process

The Kentucky Educators’ Political Action Committee (“KEPAC”) is a permanent committee affiliated with the Kentucky Education Association (“KEA”). Members of KEA voluntarily donate to KEPAC a small amount each year in addition to their KEA dues.  KEPAC uses those donations to support the election of pro-public education candidates in state and local elections. No KEA dues dollars are contributed to candidates for office.

KEPAC is a non-partisan organization.  Endorsed candidates are selected by KEPAC members based on their stated positions and previous votes on issues that directly affect public education, labor and health care.  The KEPAC members who live in each Senate Territory recommend incumbents or candidates to the KEPAC State Committee for endorsement.  Recommendations may be the result of a local interview process or may be based on an incumbent’s voting record, or both.  Any KEPAC contributor who is a constituent of the office being elected may participate in the candidate interview and recommendation process.  Recommendations are carried to the KEPAC State Committee by the appropriate Senate Territory Chair.  Only the KEPAC State Committee may make an official endorsement. Every aspect of your professional life as a public educator in Kentucky is directly affected by the decisions made by the elected members of the local board of education, the elected members of the General Assembly, and the elected constitutional officeholders.  By donating to KEPAC, you can hold those officials accountable and be sure your voice is heard on the issues that shape your working conditions and the learning conditions of public school students across the Commonwealth.
